Start Strong: How to Set Goals That Stick in 2025
It’s a new year, full of potential and possibilities. As you reflect on the year ahead, you might be tempted to set lofty resolutions—lose weight, hit the gym every day, or finally run that marathon. But here at EMPOWERHOUSE, we believe success isn’t about setting the biggest goal; it’s about setting the right goal and having a plan to get there.
Here’s how to make 2025 your strongest year yet:
1. Define Your “Why”
Before you decide what you want to achieve, ask yourself why it matters. Do you want to get stronger to feel confident in your body? Improve your stamina to keep up with your kids? Or is it about carving out time for yourself in a busy schedule?
Knowing your “why” creates a deeper connection to your goals and gives you the motivation to keep going when things get tough.
2. Be Specific and Realistic
Saying, “I want to get in shape” is vague. Instead, try something actionable like, “I want to deadlift my bodyweight by June” or “I’ll attend three gym classes every week” – (hey, this is what we recommend for our Raise the Bar stuff!) The more specific your goal, the easier it is to track progress.
And remember—set goals that challenge you but don’t overwhelm you. Start with small, manageable steps and build momentum.
3. Focus on the Process, Not Just the Outcome
The journey matters just as much as the destination. Instead of fixating on losing 20 pounds or hitting a personal best, focus on the habits that will get you there. Commit to showing up, following your program, and fueling your body.
4. Track Your Progress
Keep a journal, use an app, or take photos to document your progress. Tracking helps you celebrate small wins along the way, whether it’s lifting 10 pounds heavier or having more energy throughout the day. Tag us in these wins, too! We love sharing them!
5. Lean on Community
