When Motivation Fails, Consistency Carries Me
Hey friends,
Let’s get real for a minute. As the gym owner here at the HOUSE, you might think I bounce out of bed every morning, ready to crush workouts and inspire the masses. But truth be told, there are days when I’d rather stay under the covers, binge-watch my favorite shows, and pretend thrusters don’t exist. I am human, just like you!
Yep, even I struggle to show up sometimes.
It’s easy to assume that fitness professionals are always brimming with motivation, but the reality is, motivation is a fickle friend. It’s there one day, gone the next. What keeps me – and many others – going isn’t a constant stream of motivation. It’s consistency.
I recently shared on my Instagram stories about this very topic. There are mornings when I question my purpose, when the weight of responsibilities feels overwhelming, or when my knee injury feels debilitating. But then I remember: showing up, even when I don’t feel like it, is where the magic happens.
Consistency is the unsung hero of progress. It’s not glamorous or exciting, but it’s effective. Consistency builds habits, and habits lead to long-term success in fitness and beyond.
Think about it. You don’t need to have the most intense workout every day. You just need to show up.
So, how do I maintain consistency?
- Set Realistic Goals: I focus on achievable targets. Instead of aiming for perfection, I aim for progress.
- Create a Routine: I schedule my workouts like any other important appointment. It becomes a non-negotiable part of my day.
- Find Accountability: Surrounding myself with a supportive community keeps me on track. Sharing my struggles and victories with others makes the journey less daunting.
- Celebrate Small Wins: Every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory. I acknowledge and celebrate these moments to keep the momentum going.
Remember, it’s okay to have off days. It’s okay to feel unmotivated. What matters is that you keep showing up. Over time, these small acts of consistency compound into significant results.
So, the next time you’re tempted to skip a workout or abandon your goals, remind yourself why you started. Embrace the process, trust the journey, and know that consistency will carry you through when motivation wanes.
Keep showing up, even when it’s hard. Your future self will thank you.
With love and determination,
